Coffee is a ritual for so many people. It symbolizes a fresh new day or maybe afternoon break time or laughter with friends. No matter what your coffee means to you you have the power to get creative with your coffee ritual time! I will share many coffee tonics over time including some made with real coffee and others made with medicinal herbs and mushrooms that taste similar to coffee- all of which offer amazing health benefits!
Choose real organic coffee beans!
A fantastic elixir starts with clean-sourced and processed organic coffee beans! I will have another post for you all about various options but for now just start to do your homework and choose wisely. What we keep out of our body is just as important as what we put in our body. We want to keep out the toxins and molds and put in real whole clean medicinal foods and drinks.
My choice these days is Bulletproof, Kona or Purity coffee brands. But there are many options I’ll talk more about in another post.
Lets chat about reishi and what it will do for you?
The reishi mushroom is a superfood and has been used for thousands of years for their healing abilities. Their nickname is the “king of mushrooms”! Reishi mushroom is:
- linked to longevity
- improves immune function
- heightens mental clarity
As with all foods I like to study and share the energetic, spiritual and emotional aspects of foods too. Reishi mushroom is linked to success, divine essence, well-being and longevity including immortality!
Reishi Mushroom is an adaptogen herb
This means they help us contend with the negative effects of stress including low energy, imbalances in hormones released, increased inflammation, stressed out nervous system and more. They also have antioxidant abilities allowing them to strengthen the body’s defenses against infections, autoimmune disorders, allergies, cancer, heart disease and more.
Research shows reishi mushrooms help prevent and fight:
- fatigue (chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, adrenal fatigue)
- inflammation (injuries that won’t heal)
- food allergies
- insomnia & sleep issues
- digestion imbalances (leaky gut syndrome, IBS)
- liver imbalances & disease
- skin disorders & imbalances
- blood sugar imbalances (diabetes)
- auto-immune disorder
- anxiety, depression, stress
- high blood pressure, high cholesterol
- and more!
Reishi mushroom is an immune modulator!
This is a biggie because most people these days have a weakened immune system. It helps to:
- return the body to homeostasis
- restore hormonal balance
- regulate immune system activity
- regulate various cellular functions and systems (digestive, central nervous system, cardio etc)
Why not give reishi a try?!
It can do so much good for you and will not give you the side-effects that many traditional medications give you. You can expect to see a quick improvement in your well-being including better cognitive functioning, increased energy, decreased aches and pains and more!
How to use reishi mushroom?
Here are a few tips that both research and I have found super beneficial:
- consume on an empty stomach in the morning.
- purchase from a reputable company.
- consume in tea, capsule or powder forms.
I love to add a scoop of reishi to my coffee in the morning or just add a scoop of reishi to hot water as my “coffee” on days I’m taking a break from coffee. To save your adrenals and keep your body optimally functioning it is super beneficial to take a break from caffeine occasionally. Reishi added to hot water seriously tastes like an espresso! Play with it and make it your own!
I also love reishi coffee lattes. My fave is super simple:
- 4 oz homemade nut or seed milk
- 4 oz strong coffee or shot of espresso
- 1 date or 1 tsp honey or 1 tsp Prash
- 1 tsp reishi powder
- 1 scoop collagen powder
The only way you will know is if you experiment on yourself!
Every body mind emotion soul system is different so you need to experiment with it on you and notice how you feel. There are many healing superfoods, herbs and mushrooms and reishi is one of the most well researched, safe and effective for most. So if you are wanting to experiment with something new to help you heal and feel your best I highly recommend reishi.
