What is minimalism and why you need to integrate it into your life so that you can heal!
The Minimalists define minimalism very well, “Minimalism is a tool to rid yourself of life’s excess in favor of focusing on what’s important—so you can find happiness, fulfillment, and freedom”- and I will add health & well-being.
When you let go of all the stuff you make space for what is truly important in life- your health, relationships, discovering our true selves, fulfilling our purposes and passions, personal growth, contributing to the world, experiencing joy and contentment and more.
One of the first steps to healing is…..
letting go and making space. It is choosing to become aware of your true self- the best version of you- and what is of your highest good and then letting go of everything else. Minimalism is not just getting rid of stuff but also letting go of the people, thoughts, activities, responsibilities, to-do lists, excess errands, work and more that no longer serves your highest good.
To ultimately heal you need to make space so that you can sense what you truly need to heal. When you are bogged down with stuff, appointments, responsibilities that are actually just a waste of time or things you just think you should do, shopping, cleaning a big house etc etc…. life takes you over and you forget about what truly matters.
My journey with minimalism!
I found minimalism during my healing journey. I didn’t know I was practicing minimalism at the time but I sensed I had to let go of who I thought I was so that I could become who I truly was in this life. When I created space I could start sensing and feeling more of my truths. I could breathe into the moments of my life. I could feel my intuitive sense and follow it.
When we create space and tune in to our inner guidance system our body begins to come into balance more. Our rest and relaxation system is on more instead of our stress response, the fight or flight system. We release more of the healing feel good chemicals and hormones. We experience more joy releasing more endorphins and serotonin. And when we live this way we naturally attract more of this into our lives.
It is not always easy but it is soooo worth it.
Here are three simple steps to help you start to adopt minimalism so that you can feel better now.
- Meditate on what minimalism means to you. There is no one form of minimalism and it can look different per person. For some people it means getting rid of almost all belongings and living in an RV alone. For others it may be living in a small eco-friendly house with their family. Yet others it is living in a “normal” house with only the things they need that align with their values and purposes in life. And your definition of minimalism can change over time. What I know for sure is adopting some form of minimalism can help everyone.
- Commit to your personal journey of minimalism every day. Recommit every morning. Reflect every night.
- What can you let go of in your life? What is not serving your highest good? What is preventing you from gaining clarity, healing and freedom? Start to let go of these things, people, responsibilities and more one at a time- or all at once if you choose. And just notice where this journey takes you.
There is no better time than now!
Now is the time for you to commit to a new way of living that will allow you to naturally heal and become the best version of you. Imagine every day waking up having space to sense exactly what you desire to do, say, be and having the time, energy and space to do and be just that.
magic & miracles, kelly
